Eva Maria Scheid, EWMD in Berlin, will introduce us to the world of slavery in modern times. She is in contact with Phil Bennett, a key expert in the field, and will be asking a lot of questions to dive deeper into this secret world.\n \nModern slavery is a hidden crime that affects tens of millions of people around the world. It refers to situations of exploitation where a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, deception or abuse of power. Every country is affected. In recent years, the number of victims has increased due to poverty, war, climate change and migration. During the session, Phil will introduce you to the topic and then focus on the global issues of forced labour that occur in every company's supply chains. You will learn about the problem and what you can do to help tackle it.\n \nPhil Bennett is a strategist and recognised expert in anti-trafficking technology. He currently works independently supporting organisations fighting human trafficking around the world. In recent years he has worked with dozens of NGOs, intergovernmental organisations and academic institutions, most recently in Ukraine, the USA and Asia.
